The Basics
A domain name is the unique address that people type into a browser URL bar to visit your website (e.g., example.com).
Without domain names, we would have to navigate the internet using IP addresses—long strings of numbers like 192.0.2.1 that are hard to remember.
The "Address Book" Analogy
Think of the internet as a giant map of houses. Each house is a website.
- Hosting (The House): This is where your furniture and files live.
- IP Address (GPS Coordinates): The precise technical location (e.g., 50.12.33.44).
- Domain Name (Street Address): The easy-to-read address (e.g., 123 Maple St) that points to those coordinates.
When you type a domain into your browser, a system called DNS (Domain Name System) looks up the "Street Address" to find the "GPS Coordinates" and connects you to the website.
Why is this hosted on Cloudflare?
This page is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare acts as the "Traffic Controller" for this domain. It manages the DNS (the lookup process) to ensure the site is fast, secure, and always online.
